Transport Systems Catapult and the University of Leeds are to form a ‘Deep Academic Alliance’ agreement to support and develop the implementation of innovative transport.
The partnership will support TSC’s five-year academic engagement strategy which aims to drive greater focus on transport innovation when it comes to budget planning and allocation within government via research councils at universities and across industry.
University research will provide knowledge and ideas as well as evidence and policy advice to underpin new systems, which can then be commercialised through collaborations with industry and government.
“The mission of this new alliance is to maximise the economic and social benefits of Intelligent Mobility through the coordinated efforts of industry and academia within a UK centre of excellence,” said deputy vice-chancellor: research and innovation professor Lisa Roberts.
“This centre will lead collaborative research and innovation with industry and Government and promote the sustainable and efficient flow of people and goods. It will support the development of solutions that minimise congestion, energy consumption and emissions, and which maximise economic opportunity and social wellbeing.”
