The City of York Council has invited local residents with disabilities or mobility limitations to join an online conversation following emergency changes made to the city centre during the coronavirus pandemic.
The council is looking to determine if its ‘footstreets’ social distancing measures have affected accessibility in the city.
On Wednesday 23 September an online workshop will be held to discuss the council’s economic recovery – transport and place one-year strategy, which came into force in June.
Under this strategy blue badge parking was relocated to the edge of the city centre and a free taxi service ran between Monk Bar car park and St Andrewgate.
The council said it hoped this move would improve access to the city, with the measures put in place to allow more space for social distancing and for pavement trading.
Residents also have until Monday 28 September to provide feedback on the scheme via an online survey.
