Sustainable transport provider Beryl has launched a bike-share scheme in partnership with Worcester City Council.
Comprising 175 e-bikes and 50 pedal bikes, the Beryl-operated scheme in Worecester will provide a network of 53 Beryl Bays from which the bikes can be hired and docked.
The project is part of a £4.5m investment in active travel under the Worcester Town Investment Plan, which is grant-funded by the UK government’s Towns Fund.
Worcester City Council’s corporate director for finance and resource, Shane Flynn, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this scheme which will provide a convenient and environmentally friendly way of travelling around the city, fulfilling the council’s commitment to active travel whilst helping to reduce traffic and improve air quality.”
Achievements and innovations in active travel will be celebrated at the third annual CiTTi Awards, which will be held on 26 November 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
