Birmingham City Council has launched the Active Travel Birmingham challenge, an app-based motivational tool designed to encourage residents, workers and visitors to walk, cycle and take public transport.
Users compete as individuals or can work as a team to gain points that contribute towards prizes and rewards. The challenge will last until November 4.
Liz Clements, councillor and cabinet member for transport at Birmingham City Council, said: “The Active Travel Birmingham app is another step in our mission to improve the quality of our air in the city.
“By using the app, residents can change their travel habits, team up with friends, family, schoolmates and colleagues to climb the leaderboard and earn prizes, making green travel pay in more ways than one.”
The free app is now live and available for download.
