The All Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling and Walking (APPG) has been inaugurated for the new Parliament 24 July, the new members reiterating the groups commitment to promote all forms of cycling and walking.
APPG reviews current research evidence and best practice to assess which developments the nation should follow in the interest of bettering active travel access and proliferation.
The cross-party group will now be co-chaired by Fabian Hamilton MP (who continues in the role) and Jesse Norman MP, who replaces Selaine Saxby, after she lost her seat at the general election.
Last year, the group released a landmark report into the issue of road justice, and subsequently campaigned on the issue through meetings, Parliamentary questions, and a Westminster Hall debate.
In this new Parliament, APPG will take meetings on the subject of e-bike batteries, the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, and a major new report with British Cycling and Leigh Day.
Co-chair of the APPG for Cycling and Walking, MP Fabian Hamilton, said: ‘’I am delighted to continue in my role as co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling and Walking.
“We will continue to work both inside and outside of Parliament to promote all forms of cycling and walking.
