The Spanish federal traffic authority, Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT), has awarded a joint venture comprising Kapsch TrafficCom, Indra and Worldline an €83m contract for support and technical assistance in managing the automated complaint processing centre in León.
The contract, effective from March 2024 through the end of 2027, encompasses several key responsibilities, including management of automated complaints based on video surveillance; provision of general services to citizens; ongoing development and maintenance (corrective, evolutionary, and predictive) of the systems; and support tasks for provincial traffic headquarters and central services.
The DGT operates more than 400 pieces of hardware across Spain’s road network, including speed measurement equipment and video cameras. Maintenance of this hardware will be handled by the joint venture.
Javier Aguirre, managing director of Kapsch TrafficCom Spain and Portugal, said: “Speed limit enforcement is one of the key elements of improving road safety, and we are proud that the DGT continues to trust us.”
To date, the system has processed more than three million fines automatically, underscoring its effectiveness in monitoring and enforcing traffic regulations.
Achievements and innovations in traffic management will be recognised and celebrated at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector!
