The shortlist for CiTTi Awards 2023 has been officially revealed!
Organised by CiTTi Magazine, the UK’s leading urban transport and traffic publication, CiTTi Awards 2023 will recognise and celebrate the hard work and innovation demonstrated by public- and private-sector organisations in enabling the clean, safe and efficient movement of people, goods and materials through urban environments in the UK.
Over the summer, a total of 150 entries, submitted by nearly 90 different organisations, were presented for consideration for the second-annual CiTTi Awards. In late-August, CiTTi Magazine editor John Thornton and the rest of the CiTTi team sat down to shortlist the entries for a panel of 30+ sector-leading judges to scrutinise and pore over in more detail over the first few weeks of October.
And, following that shortlisting stage, there are a total of 94 entries from 60 organisations across 16 different categories, highlighting achievements in active travel, clean air, congestion reduction, EV charging, fleet innovation, future projects, last-mile delivery, public transport, road safety, shared mobility and smart parking.
New categories set to be highlighted at the CiTTi Awards for the very first time include the Road User Charging Award, Transport Accessibility Award, Transport Planning Award and Transport Professional of the Year.
“Back in March, when nominations opened, I said this year’s CiTTi Awards would be bigger and better than before, with more entries, more categories, more judges and more shortlisted finalists. And I’ve been proven right,” said Thornton. “What we have is an enviable shortlist of finalists – more than twice the number of last year’s – comprising the very best of the UK transportation industry.
“We now move on to the judging in October, which will no doubt be an arduous and thorough process presided over by some of the UK’s foremost transportation experts. Indeed, their pedigree in the sector is unrivalled and their years of service to the industry leaves them perfectly positioned to identify the cream of the crop of this year’s shortlisted entries.”
This year’s finalists include local government, transport authorities, transport operators and, in some cases, their project partners, chiefly technology companies and solution providers, demonstrating the importance of public-private partnerships as a catalyst for sustainable transport development in urban centres.
The winners will be publicly revealed at a dazzling ceremony on 21 November 2023 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London and be attended by 200-300 UK transport professionals. It’s sure to be a fabulous occasion and a true celebration of some fantastic efforts and success stories from the past 12 months.
