Ahead of this month’s CiTTi Awards 2024 ceremony, City Transport & Traffic Innovation Magazine is profiling each of this year’s finalists – continuing with those shortlisted for The Mobility-as-a-Service Award!
This award celebrates pioneering initiatives in Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) that seamlessly integrate various forms of transport services into a single accessible platform.
Entries had to include MaaS solutions that offer efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly travel options, encouraging a shift away from private vehicle use.
What’s more, submissions had to include user adoption rates, diversity of transport modes integrated, improvements in urban mobility, and contributions to environmental sustainability.
This year’s finalists are:
HiTRANS with Motability, FOD Mobility Group and Enterprise Mobility
HiTRANS with Motability, FOD Mobility Group and Enterprise Mobility are nominated for their project, Mobility Credits, a single platform integrating access to multiple transport options enabling users to plan, book, and pay across providers. Mobility Credits allowed eligible customers to access transport via the Go-Hi app without direct payment, with Motability monitoring spend and Go-Hi offering onboarding and support.Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Portsmouth City Council & Southampton City Council with Solent Transport
Solent Transport, with Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Portsmouth City Council & Southampton City Council, is nominated for its integrated multimodal MaaS app, Breeze. The app simplifies travel across Southampton, Portsmouth, and nearby regions as part of the Solent Future Transport Zone (FTZ), funded by the Department for Transport. Offering comprehensive journey planning and ticketing, Breeze supports e-scooter rentals, DDRT, and a mobility credits trial, advancing MaaS best practices nationally and globally.Transport for Wales with Unicard, iBlocks, Vix Technology and Cybersource
Transport for Wales with Unicard, iBlocks, Vix Technologies and Cybersource is nominated for the delivery of the UK’s first EMV Account-Based Ticketing solution outside London, enabling passengers to tap on and off with bank cards for seamless rail travel. Designed for scalability, the system supports TfW’s growth goals, integrates with mobile apps, and can expand to trams and buses, ensuring a future-proof, multi-modal experience.
Acclaimed Irish stand-up comedian Andrew Ryan has been announced as the special guest host of CiTTi Awards 2024. He will reveal all the winners on Tuesday November 26 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London.
The ceremony will be attended by 200 of the UK’s leading transport professionals from local, regional and central government and other place stakeholders – including landowners, developers, and business improvement districts – and their project partners, such as architects, planners, contractors, and technology companies.
Guests will be greeted with a drinks reception held in the Balmoral Suite ahead of the winners being announced within the impressive surrounds of the Grand Hall, which features arched ornate ceilings, beautiful wood-panelling and dramatic chandeliers.
November’s trophy-giving ceremony and public announcement of the winners follows a thorough and exacting shortlisting and judging process, which saw more than 20 transport industry experts evaluate written entries and Zoom-based presentations from nearly 90 organisations across 20 categories.
