Bedford Borough Council has received £69,509.50 from the Department for Transport (DfT) to support what it describes as ‘socially necessary’ local bus servies.
The council will use the money to support certain bus routes to ensure residents have access to reliable and affordable public transport.
Charles Royden, councillor and portfolio holder for environment, said: “We look forward to using these funds to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents.
“There is no doubt the industry is struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic and exacerbated with the increase in fuel costs.
“These funds will be used to target our limited resources where they can make the most difference.”
