Danfoss Power Solutions, a Danish manufacturing multinational, has announced its supply of all-electric drivetrains to Taiwan’s national bus operator, Chung-Shin Bus Group.
The operator plans to support national targets to become net zero by 2050 by building 16,000 electric buses.
The government is also aiming for 60% new electric cars by 2035.
Chung-Shin Bus Group plans to deploy 150 electrics buses, powered by Danfoss’ technology, across Taipei and New Taipei City by the end of 2022. A further 100 of these same buses are planned for service by the end of 2023.
The Danfoss drivetrains provide a reported 30% increase in efficiency and a 30% reduction in operational costs compared to diesel-run vehicles.
Christophe Natter, vice president of OEM sales for Danfoss Power Solutions, said: “With high torque performance, wide operation range and integrated gearbox, our on-highway drivetrain is perfectly suited for bus applications.
“Chung-Shin Bus Group received solid references for our solution from our other customers worldwide, giving them confidence that we are the right partner to join them on their electrification journey.”
The Danish manufacturer claims its drivetrains’ lightweight design offers key benefits for buses, where both space and weight are major considerations.
