Financial support for Scottish bus operators has been extended until March 2021 to help services run during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Scottish government announced an additional £29m to maintain bus services following the downtown in fares as result of Covid-19.
Scotland’s cabinet secretary for transport, infrastructure and connectivity, Michael Matheson, said: “We know how vital bus services are in keeping Scotland moving during the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic – ensuring people can travel to work, access health services, or visit their loved ones.
“While we remain committed to supporting our transport network and doing all we can to help the bus industry deliver services, we also ask the public to follow the latest travel guidance and walk, wheel or cycle wherever they can. With the public’s help we can provide safe public transport while protecting public health.”
The extra funds, which extend the £162.3m in support given since June, aim to help with the additional costs of running services and the impact of physical distancing measures.
