The CiTTi exhibition which was held at the MK Arena in Milton Keynes on the 18th and 19th of June featured packed seminar sessions and lots of high-quality conversations with exhibitors.
Solutions on show included ridesharing, last-mile solutions, vehicle charging, electric bikes, radar solutions, fleet and vehicle optimising platforms, MaaS solutions, mobile devices and many more.
And exhibitors included ViaVan, AppyParking, Bestmile, Fleetonomy, Kyyti, DOVU, Shotl, Stuart Delivery, Tomorrow’s Journey, among many others.
At the conference, Ella Taylor, head of future mobility at the Centre of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles spoke about future mobility strategies. She highlighted that transport is undergoing many changes which all interact with each other, such as automation – of trains and many different vehicles, electrification, mobility as a service, new modes of transport (electric scooters and bike hybrids that challenges standard of vehicles), and data and connectivity with users expecting on demand information.
She brought attention to the risks of these mobility innovations, such as the emergence of monopolies, exclusivity, lack of interaction with people and increased in congestion. This can be remedied through policies which can help guide decision making later, regulatory reviews and the launch of mobility zones to trial such technologies and gauge how they interact with users.
Likewise, Gnewt, supported by the Mayor of London, founder and chief executive Sam Clarke spoke about his urban mobility project to make the most out of Gnewt’s central London electric van fleet. He explained how Gnewt has been trialling the use of porters to improve efficiency of parcel delivery as well as reduce inner city congestion.
Other conference speakers included FTA head of South England and urban policy Natalie Chapman who spoke about urban logistics issues and how they can be remedied and ohn Lewis Partnership CEng FIMechE general manager – fleet, Justin Laney spoke about John Lewis’ strategy for a zero-carbon fleet by 2045.
