Cohda Wireless, an Australian connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) software company, has developed a wireless vehicle-to-everything (V2X) turnkey solution for automakers and smart cities.
The solution integrates Cohda’s V2X software with wireless technology firm Qualcomm’s SnapDragon automotive 5G and 4G platforms.
The porting of Cohda’s software to Qualcomm’s SnapDragon automotive 5G and 4G platforms aims to provide automakers with a more complete offering for wireless V2X that delivers a faster time to market.
Fabien Cure, chief engineer, Cohda Wireless, said: “[The solution] can be leveraged with confidence in the interests of establishing a cooperative, intelligent road transport system that will make our roads safer, less congested and ultimately, less damaging to the environment.”
Furthermore, Qualcomm’s SnapDragon automotive 5G and 4G platforms are designed to provide support for in-vehicle experiences, precise positioning for lane level navigation accuracy, multi-gigabit vehicle- to-network cloud connectivity, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-roadside infrastructure (V2I) direct communication.
The combined solution thus enables a broad set of end-to-end applications including high bandwidth, low latency teleoperations support, a key requirement for automotive safety, platooning, autonomous, and always-connected driving experiences.
