Bikemap has announced that it now offers 4.5 million cycling routes in more than 100 countries.
Matthias Natmessnig, CEO, Bikemap, said: “The secret behind Bikemap is the Bikemap Graph. Consisting of millions of data points on bicycle activity worldwide, it is the basis for our navigation.
“We have now created a worldwide digital route network with over 800,000 points of interest through the interaction of our users”.
Bikemap’s in-house developed maps are designed to be tailored to the needs of cyclists.
In addition to the free-to-use version of the app, which is available in 11 languages for both Android and iOS users, Bikemap also offers a premium subscription plan.
For €29 (£24) per year, users receive unlimited access to offline maps, routes and navigation.
Furthermore, premium users can optimise their routes with extended navigation options for road bikes and mountain bikes to, for example, avoid unpaved passages or integrate hilly trails.
There are also additional maps for premium users, specially developed for cyclists, which contain more information.
A recent improvement to the Bikemap app includes integration of the map on the home screen.
What’s more, all 4.5 million routes can be filtered by route length, bike type and underground condition, and users can plan and save their own routes with several intermediate stops and different routing options.
“Our next goals are five million users and introducing real-time bicycle navigation all over the world,” added Natmessnig.
