The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has become the first in the UK to launch an e-bike rental scheme with micromobility company Dott.
Now, residents and visitors can hire the new dockless cycles on a pay-as-you-bike basis. The rollout follows the launch of e-scooter rental trial scheme with Dott, Lime and Tier in the capital, which were introduced to selected London boroughs in June 2021.
Some 30 designated parking bays have been installed across the borough where riders can begin and end their journeys. The locations can be found through the Dott app. Both the new e-bikes and existing e-scooters can be unlocked by scanning a QR code.
Special discounts, free trips and training sessions are available, through H&F’s community aid network Sobus, to local charities, start-ups and social enterprises to support the voluntary and community sectors.
The introduction of the e-bike rental scheme is designed to complements the actions the borough is taking to encourage cycling uptake. It also forms part of a wider strategy to make active travel the go-to form of transport the people who visit, work and live in Hammersmith and Fulham.
“Our new partnership with Dott helps make cycling a more attractive, accessible and safer travel option,” Cllr Wesley Harcourt said, H&F cabinet member for the environment.
“It’s the perfect addition to our growing network of electric vehicle charging points and e-scooters. And it’s both good for the environment and for your health.”
