Daimler Trucks & Buses has launched a holistic ecosystem for customers seeking the best possible entry into electric transportation logistics in Europe, North America and Japan.
As such, the group is offering consulting services relating to e-mobility, including route analysis, incentive management, analysis of operating costs and support with operative fleet integration.
Set-up and maintenance of the necessary charging infrastructure are also part of the ecosystem, as are digital applications designed to simplify people’s entry in the world of e-mobility.
Gesa Reimelt, head of e-mobility at Daimler Trucks & Buses, said: “Our battery-electric trucks are already undergoing extensive practical trials around the world. Thanks to the close exchange with our customers, we understood early on the need to think far beyond the e-vehicle.
“That is why we offer an ecosystem tailored to the use case and needs of customers, including consulting and charging infrastructure solutions. This is how we want to provide our customers with the ideal entry into e-mobility.”
From next year, Daimler Trucks will offer a free application with the eTruck Ready app, with which customers can decide which operating profiles and routes are suitable for an e-truck.
The smartphone app records the driving routes of a conventional vehicle, capturing speed, acceleration and altitude profile along the route.
Important parameters such as payload and outside temperature can be added afterwards by fleet managers in an individual web portal. From this data, the programme generates the respective range and expected power consumption of a suitable electric truck from the Daimler portfolio, creating a realistic usage profile for customers.
Daimler Trucks’ tailored consulting services include indications of possible route optimisation for electric trucks and suitable charging infrastructure. If needed, experts can create individual operating cost analysis and take into account, among other things, public funding opportunities.
A special focus of the consulting relies on the development and installation of intelligent charging solutions. Consultants can then specify the charging stations suitable for the individual case and possible extensions for the necessary power supply.
By the end of the next decade, Daimler Trucks & Buses will extend its range with hydrogen-powered series production vehicles.
