Dundee has received over £356,000 of funding towards surfacing and a boundary fence on a stretch of shared use path through Dundee Dock. This infrastructure is on the path completion and will open up access through the harbour area.
This comes after a recent agreement between Dundee City council and Forth ports and Councillors are now being asked to approve a bid for the work from Jones Bros. of Ruthin, North Wales.
Lynne Short convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee commented that this “work will see some upgrading to the surface and boundaries to make using the route smoother and easier for cyclists and pedestrians.”
The path is part of the National and North Sea cycle routes, as well as the local Green Circular, and is a popular route for cyclists and walkers. Short adds that she is sure that “these enhancements will boost the number of people wanting to use it” as it is a popular stretch.
