Merton Council and e-bike operator HumanForest have reached an agreement to expand the rental scheme in the area.
The growth of the scheme aligns with the council’s ambitions to support improved provision of active travel options and infrastructure for the local community. Merton also hopes to cut transport emissions.
As part of the partnership, Merton residents can use HumanForest bikes for 10 minutes without paying. Other incentives and awards are available through the operator’s Treecoin loyalty programme.
Caroline Seton, co-founder at HumanForest, said: “We are delighted to partner with Merton Council to introduce our sustainable and affordable e-bikes to residents next month.
“With 10 minutes free riding daily, we hope HumanForest will be the catalyst for residents to add cycling to their commute or take it up for the first time.”
The scheme is expected to come into effect in early January 2023 and will be supported by the implementation of virtual green bays, which encourage responsible parking for service users.
