Jeep Urban has unveiled its first e-scooter for the UK market, which is available now and retails for £829.99.
The Jeep Urban Camou E-Scooter was developed in partnership with Italian e-mobility company Platum, and is designed to suit a variety of terrains.
The scooter, which weighs less than 20kg (44 lb), can be folded and carried by the rider.
Jeep claims that the 10in (25cm) tyres are puncture proof for use on uneven paths or streets with potholes.
The scooter is powered with a 500W rear motor and a 461Wh battery, which reportedly holds up to 31 miles (50km) of range.
Rebecca Tyson, country general manager at Moov Electric, said: “After the recent disruption to the UK rail system and as fuel prices continue to soar, now is the time that micromobility products could be offering a solution to those who want an alternative to their car for short journeys.
“Personal light electric vehicles, that are both environmentally friendly and cost-effective, should soon be playing a huge role in our transport system once e-scooters are legalised by the Department for Transport.”
The scooter is equipped with front and rear suspension cushions, which are supposed to bump on uneven terrain to improve the ride’s stability.
The frame is made from magnesium to support lightness and resistance.
Users can connect their scooter to the Jeep Urban e-mobility app, which offers information on the vehicle’s performance and location, as well as an assistive chat feature.
The scooter, built to meet European regulations, cannot exceed speeds of 15.5mph (25km/h) and is not intended for use on public roads or cycle lanes.
It is also equipped with a dual braking system, front and rear LED lights and an LED display to help riders monitor speed and battery power.
Jeep Urban also plans to bring folding e-bikes and e-mountain bikes to the UK within the next year.
