Brighton & Hove City Council has secured funding to continue promoting sustainable travel in the city.
The council’s Access Travel team has been awarded £495,000 from the Department for Transport (DfT) to build on three years’ of projects that have been supporting residents, employers and visitors to travel sustainably.
The new funding will mean the Access Travel team can continue with existing projects and will focus on North and South Portslade in 2020/21.
It will also be used to support events such as Clean Air Day on 18 June and Care Free Day on 22 September.
Chair of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee, Anne Pissaridou, said: “We have declared a climate emergency and we are determined to be a carbon neutral council by 2030.
“To achieve that goal, we need as many residents, visitors and businesses as possible to travel in a way that is sustainable and reduces carbon emissions.
“The work that has already been done to support them is very encouraging and this funding will allow us to build on the successes we have had so far.”
