Technology company ABB has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to jointly develop a cloud-based digital solution for the real-time fleet management of EVs.
The system is being designed to optimise the efficient use of EVs and speed up the electrification of transport fleets to help operators maintain business continuity as they transition to fully-electric vehicles.
Planned to launch in the second half of 2021, the new platform will include EV chargepoint data on a fleet dashboard, allowing for efficient and reliable fleet management.

While many fleet operators currently opt for a third-party charging management software, the partnership said its solution would offer a scalable, secure and flexible platform that enables companies to “plug and go”.
Furthermore, ABB has established a pure-play venture in Berlin that will develop tailored technologies for fleet operators to be used by all vehicle OEMs. Working with AWS, the new venture will design the interoperable fleet management solution to work with all vehicle types and charging infrastructure.
Using machine-learning and analytics, the solution will include charge planning and real-time monitoring with insight and actions for vehicle health and servicing, as well as EV route optimisation based on time of day, weather and use patterns.
