ABB has announced the supply of an end-to-end solution for the installation and connection of EV chargers at 40 public locations across Sweden for European energy company Vattenfall.
The technology from ABB includes both a fast-charging station and all necessary grid connection hardware.
Björn Öster, public charging manager at Vattenfall, said: “Vattenfall and ABB have a long history of collaboration. Together we have a proven track-record for a turn-key solution in bringing fast chargers to the public EV market.
“ABB delivers our hardware and grid connection equipment and we install and connect it to the public network InCharge, making it possible for the EV driver to find and use it in a smooth way.”
Vattenfall is using ABB’s DC 50kW Terra fast-charging station, which charges most common battery sizes within 30 to 45 minutes.
It uses open standards to offer a future-proof connection as well as remote monitoring and remote assistance functions via the ABB Ability platform.
What’s more, ABB’s power distribution solution comprises a robust outdoor cabinet, busbars, fusegear and switches, all specifically designed to meet the demands of outdoor environments.
Also, the grid connection system has been tested and verified, fulfilling regulatory requirements for power distribution in public networks and comes fully assembled from ABB’s manufacturing facility in Alingsås, Sweden.
It has been designed to provide a safe, intelligent connection to the public power grid, ensuring the charging stations provide a reliable service to drivers throughout their lifetime.
The fully assembled grid connection solution for EV chargers also minimises the commissioning time at sites, speeding up delivery for short project lead times.
According to ABB, it was finished in such a way to match the EV charger and also incorporates a dedicated space for a billing metre.
