Avison Young, a strategic real estate advisor, has announced a partnership with London-based EV charging infrastructure provider Connected Kerb.
As part of the partnership, Avison Young will deploy Connected Kerb EV charging solutions into its office car parks – the first being in Birmingham.
According to Avison Young, this development is in line with its recent commitment to implement net zero carbon in its UK workplaces within the next decade, retrofitting existing presences with energy-efficient technology, and increasing carbon literacy throughout its workforce.
Jon Gibson, head of sustainability at Avison Young, said: “Companies such as Connected Kerb will enable people to make more sustainable choices whilst at the same time help the UK to meet its decarbonisation targets and improve local air quality in urban areas.”
Connected Kerb’s charging system is made from recycled materials and reportedly offers a long lifespan due to a “unique, robust and future-proofed design” that houses its technology beneath the ground.
Connected Kerb’s CEO, Chris Pateman-Jones, said:“Charging infrastructure in the UK is still woefully behind where it needs to be – we are estimating the need for an installation of 10,000 chargers per month, every month until 2035 in order to cope with the influx of EVs.
“The first challenge is educating key industries, including the real estate sector – that’s why partnerships like this one are so crucial at this stage.”
Connected Kerb is also introducing wireless charging this year across the UK, including in the Midlands and Scotland, alongside its conventional plug-in charging and IoT capabilities.
