US-based micromobility company Charge has expanded its footprint in the USA and Europe with the installation of charging stations for electric scooters and other micromobility vehicles across 6,000 locations.
The company offers different micromobility-servicing infrastructure such as charging and parking solutions for dockless electric scooters and electric bikes.
The Charge SmartHub can charge more than 70 electric scooters at once. It is located at places with a high-urban population to increase charging capabilities and lower downtime.
The Charge SmartStation is a battery-powered charging station that aims to tackle the limitations of micromobility.
Both products are capable of detecting the electric scooters partnered with Charge and will charge only those scooters.
The customer pays for the percentage of charge provided, similar to petrol station operations.
Andrew Fox, co-founder and CEO of Charge, said: “With some cities housing over 50,000 shared e-scooters from operators such as Bird, Lime, Spin and Voi, and more landing every week, something has to give.
“Cities are unable to cope with the extreme clutter caused by these vehicles and the race to build infrastructure for micromobility has begun.
“We provide a win-win solution for cities, scooter operators, riders and residents, so that communities can implement a safe and sustainable strategy for electric micromobility.”
The company will also launch experimental programmes in Paris, Lyon, Lisbon and Milan, with 50 electric Charge SmartStations.
