The North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) has announced the launch of a solution designed to accelerate the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the North East and across the UK.
The solution aims to help stimulate investment to deliver and grow the UK’s EV infrastructure and will encompass the operation and maintenance of new infrastructure.
NEPO’s EV charging infrastructure solution is available to all local authorities and public-sector organisations across the UK.
Suppliers available through the solution include AMP EV, Apcoa, Believ, Connected Kerb, Equans, Swarco UK, Ubitricity and Zest.

NEPO collaborated with Transport North East to develop the procurement framework and will work with mayoral combined authorities and local councils to ensure the new framework agreement delivers wider economic and environmental ambitions in the region by working with suppliers to develop social value commitments that further reduce carbon emissions, improve skills and support local communities.
Steven Sinclair, procurement and commercial director at NEPO, said: “We’re delighted to introduce a groundbreaking solution for the public sector to deliver the EV charging infrastructure needed across the North East and UK.
“By working with NEPO member authorities and Transport North East, our framework offers contracting authorities unparalleled access to flexible EV charging solutions.
“This not only empowers local authorities and the wider public sector to meet their environmental commitments but also propels the nation towards a net-zero future.”
Achievements and innovations in EV charging will be celebrated at the third annual CiTTi Awards, which will be held on 26 November 2024 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Nominations officially open in March 2024. Please visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector.
