Hull-based electrical services provider Head-on Electrical has announced the procurement of an electric van from vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz to support the decarbonisation of its commercial fleet.
The van model is an L2 long-bodied eVito and is technically a used vehicle, but has just 500 miles (804km) on the clock.
According to the automaker, the van’s 41 kWh battery is securely mounted beneath the vehicle floor, meaning it does not interfere with the available space, and offers an average range on a single charge of up to 92 miles (148km).
Tony Fethon, co-founder of Head-on Electrical, said: “Given that an increasing amount of our work is in the provision of charging infrastructure to help customers switch over to electric vehicles, it makes obvious sense for us to be running battery-powered vans on our own fleet.
“This Mercedes-Benz eVito is the first of many, and is already proving to be a great mobile advertisement for our company as well as a highly effective and efficient performer.
“Moving to electric transportation will be a major step forward in our strategic goal to reduce the impact of our activities on the local environment as much as possible and make the company as sustainable as it can be – we see this as part of our responsibility to care for the community in which we all live and work.”
The contractor currently operates a fleet of 12 vans, each of which are equipped to carry tools, cabling and other parts used by its electricians across a range of electrical services, including the installation of electric vehicle chargepoints.
