EV charging network InstaVolt has announced a major partnership with fast food restaurant chain KFC UK & Ireland that will see rapid chargers installed at up to 450 KFC drive thru restaurants at locations across the UK.
The deal will see a roll-out programme ramp up across KFCâs own restaurants as well as franchise businesses and will add to InstaVoltâs existing chargers at KFC restaurants in Sheffield, Nottingham, Rotherham and Crewe.
A number of sites on the major road network or in busy urban areas are currently live, including Shirley Road, Birmingham with locations in London and Hampshire coming online over the next few months.
Mathew McCormick, chief development officer at KFC UK & Ireland, said: âWe are committed to sustainability and installing EV rapid chargers at our restaurants is strategically very important.
“Reducing pollution and harmful emissions is a major priority and giving our loyal fans the opportunity to enjoy our iconic fried chicken while charging their electric cars is a perfect combination.â
InstaVolt operates a so-called âopen chargerâ model, which means anyone can use its charging points on a pay-as-you-go basis. No monthly subscription and no membership cards are required with drivers needing a contactless payment card to start a charging session.
