Kempower, a charging solutions provider, has partnered with TSG, a technical services firm specialising in mobility, and oil and gas company MOL Group to install its rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers at 14 service stations in Romania.
The chargers, which will be installed at services along Romania’s A1 and A2 highways, are part of wider efforts to improve the nation’s EV charging infrastructure.
Romania is one of many countries in the European Union to pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. A critical part of these efforts will be the decarbonisation of transport, which is the country’s third largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions.
The government’s REPowerEU plan also seeks to limit the country’s reliance on supplies of fossil fuels coming from Russia.
Each of the 14 service stations will be equipped with a 200kW Kempower C-Series charging power unit and three Kempower S-Series satellite charging systems. Some 10 service stations are already fitted with the devices, with the remaining four due to be installed soon.
Tomi Ristimäki, CEO of Kempower, said: “We want to introduce new technologies worldwide, so we’re delighted to supply our chargers to Romania.
“Given the success of our partnership with TSG and MOL Group, we’re confident that the project will be fully carried out swiftly.
“Once all 14 stations are operational, Romania will be one step closer to realising fully decarbonised highways.”
MOL Group is delivering the project as part of its local investment strategy to improve charging infrastructure across Romania, while also looking to reduce emissions throughout its entire value chain of operations.
