Kia has revealed details of its next-generation Niro which will be available in three electrified powertrains, comprising of hybrid electric (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) options.
Releasing the details of the HEV model, Kia said the car further demonstrates the company’s progress in becoming a global sustainable mobility solutions provider. As part of Kia’s growing eco-friendly model line-up, the Niro has been designed from the ground up to meet the varied needs of today’s sustainability-conscious consumers.
Smartstream’s 1.6-litre GDI engine features improved cooling, friction and combustion technologies to help power the HEV model. The powerplant ensures highly competitive fuel efficiency, with the all-new Niro HEV capable of achieving 20.8km/L (based on Korean standard).

Additionally, the new Niro has a larger body designed to improve interior space and storage capacity. Eco-friendly materials have been used to create a “minimalist avant-garde feel”.
While, digital displays and interior controls have been optimally placed to further enhance the user-friendly operating experience.
Sales of the all-new Kia Niro HEV will commence in Korea this month, with sales in selected global markets due to follow later this year.
PHEV and BEV models will be revealed at a later date, closer to market launch.
