Cloud-native software provider Daloop has unveiled its new formula designed to help UK businesses transition to EVs.
Using national averages for mileage, vehicle choices, charging infrastructure and data on an organisation’s employees, the formula has been developed to create a staff-to-charge-point ratio to support businesses’ electrification journeys.
The formula is intended to serve as a guideline for businesses looking to support employees using or switching to EVs.
This includes the number of employees driving to work, the length of a working week and the number of employees who are able to charge at home, which can vary greatly based on location.
This multiplier generates a staff-to-charge-point ratio designed to support businesses’ assessment of it and its employees’ adoption needs.
Daloop claims that the average UK ratio is 0.0016, or one per 1,000 employees. Using this formula alongside projected UK government data on electrification, the company predicts that the required ratio will reach 0.15 by 2035, or one per every six or seven employees.
Though an increasing number of organisations are looking to install EV charging points, this type of investment is potentially complicated. Daloop suggests that efficiency and ROI for many businesses will depend on a well-developed strategy.
Daloop’s wider Mobility Change Platform (MCP) and formula are designed to help businesses considering EV investments to develop a clear estimate of the scale of their initial investment.
Jane Hoffer, Daloop CEO, said: “Fleet electrification can be a daunting journey for businesses to make, and it is important for those anxious about these changes to have the tools they need to estimate their need.
“This simple calculation will enable businesses to visualise the scale of their initial investments into EV infrastructure, pushing past any change anxiety with confidence.”
Daloop’s documentation on the multiplier is now available.
