Electric vehicle (EV) information provider Electrifying.com has revealed the results of its survey on the cost of electricity from various rapid charging providers across the UK.
The list ranks providers that offer a pay as you go service. According to the study, PodPoint at Tesco and Lidl is the most affordable option, coming in at 28p per kWh. On the other end of the spectrum is Ionity, which charges 69p per kWh.
The full list is as follows:
Some operators, such as PodPoint and Mer, have varying prices depending on the charger’s location.
According to Electrifying.com, the difference is substantial enough that EV drivers looking to save should shop around. For example, a 10-80% charge on a 58kWh battery car would cost £28.01 on an Ionity charger versus £11.36 on a PodPoint charger at Tesco or Lidl.
These figures exclude the costs associated with particular manufacturer deals, such as Hyundai and Kia’s discounted Ionity membership.
