Zoomo, an electric delivery vehicle provider, and SG Fleet, a fleet solutions specialist, have announced a partnership to bring more light electric vehicles (LEVs) to British and Australian roads.
The e-bike provider’s recent US$20m (£16.8m) funding boost saw SG Fleet join as a new investor in Zoomo.
The two companies share a goal to provide sustainable vehicles to individuals and organisations as
demand for LEVs grows and companies explore different mobility options.
The partnership has been established to help organisations switch their postal delivery fleets to electric.
Zoomo’s e-bikes will be supplied to SG Fleet’s existing customer base to encourage more sustainable choices for last-mile deliveries.
SG Fleet’s clients include government, corporate and university customers.
Through the partnership, SG Fleet will provide Zoomo e-bikes via leasing or salary sacrifice schemes, which can offer tax benefits to both companies and employees.
Lincoln De Kalb, group product development manager of future mobility at SG Fleet, said: “LEVs are another tool companies can use on their path to reducing their transport carbon emissions.
“It doesn’t always make sense to use a 1.5-tonne vehicle for a particular journey if other cheaper and less carbon-intensive alternatives are available, such as e-bikes.”
The partnership will also offer joint R&D opportunities. Specifically, Zoomo will gain insights into fleet management, while SG Fleet will benefit from Zoomo’s e-bike management experience and access to their network of suppliers.
