A smart campus close to Amsterdam, called the City Logistics Innovation Campus (CLIC), plans to provide mass electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities to support a ban on fossil fuel engines by 2030.
The site was designed to offer digital enterprises a shared space to innovate last-mile logistics solutions and hopes to address a lack of charging infrastructure for EVs across the Amsterdam area.
CLIC is both an operational logistics and research centre and a functioning campus. The idea behind CLIC is to enable innovation in the urban logistics field by providing key facilities in one centralised location.
Stephen Segbers, COO at Essent, said: “The city of Amsterdam is going to ban all fossil fuel cars starting from 2025.
“That means logistics needs to find a solution to that.
“CLIC is developed close to Amsterdam, between the airport and the city.
“It is meant to make city logistics emissions free.”
Essent is a Dutch energy company.
CLIC is located in the Lijndenhof business park in Badhoevedorp. It has a reported 120,000m² of commercial space and is at the centre of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (AMA).
