Warrington Borough Council has selected Zest, an investor-operator of public access electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as the new charging operator for a major multi-storey car park in the town centre.
Zest will provide 56 EV charging bays to the Time Square parking facility, most of which are 7kW for visitors to top-up, alongside four rapid bays for those needing a faster recharge.
Others include dedicated accessible and car-club bays located on the ground floor of the car park.
The first 25 charging bays are now open, with the remainder scheduled to open in phases during June.
CEO and founder of Zest, Robin Heap, said: “People want to switch to EVs but they need to see abundant and reliable charging infrastructure being rolled out.
“Working in partnership with forward-looking local authorities like Warrington, we’re building at a scale that inspires confidence in the EV transition and makes a tangible contribution to net zero.”
The Time Square development is part of a larger project that aims to revitalise Warrington town centre, providing shopping, restaurants and leisure experiences, and a location for Warrington’s market.
Achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure will be celebrated at the third annual CiTTi Awards, which will be held on 26 November 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
