Zest, a public electric vehicle (EV) charger supplier, has partnered with Tickhill Town Council to deliver charging infrastructure.
Tickhill, a market town near Doncaster, is the first local authority in the North of England to collaborate with Zest on the installation of public chargers.
Maintenance and operation will be overseen by Zest, meaning there will be no financial cost to the local authority. It also partnered with a local company on the installation process.
Zest provides services to public and private landowners across the UK and is backed by the UK government’s Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF).
“We’re delighted to join forces with Tickhill Town Council to deploy this vital long-term infrastructure,” said Robin Heap, CEO at Zest.
“We believe that by taking action today to improve access to public charging, we can democratise EV adoption and help create a sustainable zero carbon future for everyone.”
There are already half a million EVs on UK roads, with 2022 seeing the largest growth in vehicle registrations within a single year to date.
In Tickhill’s St Marys Road car park, four of the 54 spaces are now equipped with EV chargers.
The newly-added fast chargers reportedly run on 100% renewable energy and at speeds that match the typical length of stay. Charging and payments are managed via the Zest app, where users can also access customer support.
