E-bike sharing service HumanForest has launched what it claims is the first-ever trial of a shared e-moped fleet in London.
The fleet of 200 e-mopeds reportedly offer up to 70 miles of range thanks to dual electric batteries, and feature a USB charging point, phone holder, GPS tracking and an alarm system.
What’s more, the vehicles are equipped with a 40-litre top box containing a HumanForest helmet.
Agustin Guilisasti, CEO and founder of HumanForest, said: “Becoming multimodal with London’s first shared and truly green e-moped scheme gives Londoners another tool to reduce their carbon footprint and improve air quality.
“As petrol prices reach record-highs, this is a timely launch for businesses to embrace sustainable transport through a shared service with maximum flexibility. We are excited to welcome this new type of user into our community.”
Each user receives five free minutes per day, with rides costing £0.20p per minute thereafter. Other rental packages include minute bundles, which let users ride from £1.50 per hour. Riders will also be billed per kilometres ridden.
HumanForest claims that every e-moped ride saves 130g of CO2 and that it can free up the capacity of 3,000 combustion mopeds with the scheme.
The fleet is reportedly powered by totally renewable energy, which is said to make them completely carbon neutral and reduces their impact on noise pollution levels.
Riders also do not have to pay a fuel or battery fee and are offered what HumanForest claims are “significant savings” on daily ULEZ costs.
All riders must undergo safety and compliance checks and a Compulsory Basic Training certificate or driver’s licence must be uploaded to the company app for verification.
