North Somerset Council has been awarded £851,000 through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund to support those without access to off-street parking or driveways to help them make the switch to electric vehicles.
The LEVI funding will support the council’s reduction of carbon emissions in line with the UK government’s Net Zero 2040 goals.
The news follows Somerset West Council’s decarbonisation of its operations fleet as the rest of the South-West region also reduces its greenhouse gas emissions.

North Somerset Council’s executive member with responsibility for sustainable travel, Hannah Young, said: “We are committed to supporting people to make the switch to electric vehicles in addition to improving public transport and active travel routes.
“We welcome this funding as it will make owning an electric vehicle a better option for those who don’t have access to private charging points at home.”
Achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure will be celebrated at the third annual CiTTi Awards, which will be held on 26 November 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
