A first-of-its-kind exhibition dedicated to sustainable practices and processes in the supply-chain and logistics industry is coming to Halls 6 & 7 of the NEC Birmingham in 2024!
The Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition – organised by Akabo Media – publisher of City Transport & Traffic Innovation Magazine (CiTTi) – will take place on 19-20 March 2024 and provide a unique platform for urban logistics, supply-chain and sustainability professionals seeking to become net zero and adopt effective environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) strategies.
Attendees will learn how they can ‘go green’ throughout their whole supply chain by seeing the very latest and next-generation sustainable solutions live and in person, showcased by 350+ exhibitors.
At the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition, visitors will discover innovations in last-mile delivery and freight transportation, shipping, order fulfilment, distribution, packaging, warehouse and facilities management, automation, industrial property, software, and more, ensuring they walk away with the best possible knowledge on their next investment.
The Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition will be supported by Akabo Media’s industry-leading CiTTi Magazine, which reports on the latest technologies enabling the sustainable movement of people, goods and materials through urban environments.
John Thornton, editor of CiTTi Magazine, said: “Although it represents just one part of this important new exhibition, urban logistics is a wide field, comprising both business-to-business and business-to-customer interactions, and involving a very large number of stakeholders and economic operators. It is essential for the operation of modern cities, delivering post and parcels, taking stock to retailers, collecting waste and refuse, transporting construction materials and machinery, and connecting value chains.
“Whilst cities have begun considering how to make their transport and mobility systems more sustainable, logistics and freight vehicles remain a challenge as a result of the sector’s wide complexity of stakeholders.
“However, with urban logistics being responsible for significant carbon emissions, air pollutants, urban noise, traffic congestion and safety risks, businesses and public authorities are realising that sustainable logistics need to become mainstream to support continued sustainable economic growth. This is becoming even more prominent as urban logistics activities surge with the increase of e-commerce, resulting in myriads of additional deliveries to both people and businesses.
“Thus, brands and public authorities need guidance and inspiration in tackling urban logistics, which is highly complex, requiring co-ordination with the private sector, which best knows the issues to be tackled, but is highly fragmented, with different and conflicting visions and goals.
“And as this exhibition will demonstrate, improving the sustainability of supply chains and logistics operations can only help to improve economic performance, increase efficiency, improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions, as well as decrease traffic congestion and improve road safety.”
Another publication supporting the event is Akabo Media’s industry-leading Logistics Manager – the UK supply-chain industry’s only monthly publication, which, in turn, produces the pioneering Sustainable Supply Chain Conference and the long-running, industry-lauded Supply Chain Excellence Awards.
Commenting on how supply-chain decarbonisation – albeit a complex challenge – is a huge untapped opportunity that can benefit the bottom line as well as people and the planet, Logistics Manager’s award-winning editor, Michelle Mooney, said: “Delegates at this year’s Sustainable Supply Chain Conference made it clear that they want to see sustainable products and solutions in person.
“Whether these innovations help them with their need for visibility or to deliver in the last mile, our audience of senior supply-chain professionals wants a deeper understanding of how suppliers can help them on their path to decarbonisation.
“We’ve also learned that supply-chain leaders have a strong desire to network and gain insight into how other companies are overcoming similar sustainability challenges to theirs. This exhibition will offer a productive environment for these professionals to do exactly that on a mass scale.”
The Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition will also involve environmental-focused non-profits, government bodies and industry associations so that visiting brands receive a wider understanding of how these organisations can support them on their path to decarbonisation.
What’s more, the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition will take place alongside IntraLogisteX – the UK’s premier materials handling exhibition, and Robotics and Automation – the UK’s largest exhibition dedicated to these technologies, to form the overarching Logistics, Supply Chain and Automation Expo.
As a result, visitors who register for any of these events will also be able to access all three exhibitions with one ticket. The co-location also means an immediate gain in the number of exhibiting companies and qualifying professional visitors, with more than 8,000 buyers expected!
Finally, the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition will provide a world-class conference programme featuring more than 60 expert speakers over two days, offering visitors the opportunity to learn how the latest developments in supply-chain decarbonisation can influence their bottom line.
