Leeds City Council has issued an update on its financial support schemes for the Leeds Clean Air Charging Zone (CAZ).
Following the council’s announcement in March to delay the CAZ until January 2021 at the earliest, it has now confirmed that the interest-free loan scheme for taxi and private hire continues to be paused.
Furthermore, all repayments have been suspended until further notice and the council is still not currently accepting new applications.
Additionally, no date has been announced for the next round of the large vehicle grant scheme, which means the council is not accepting new applications for non-scheduled buses, coaches or HGVs.
In light of the delay to the scheme, Leeds City Council said it is pausing all grant payments for vehicles purchased after the 26th June 2020 until further notice.
This means the council is not currently accepting new grant applications for any type of vehicle.
“We will continue processing payments for applicants who have purchased or upgraded their vehicle before today and satisfy our eligibility criteria,” said Leeds City Council in a statement.
