Visitors to Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition 2024 are learning how a tech-enabled shuttle bus service can help businesses reduce Scope 3 emissions achieve their sustainability goals.
At stand 1120, Max Alden, sales development representative at RideTandem, is explaining how the company’s fully-managed shuttle bus services can support businesses by actively reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a cleaner environment.
“Scope 3 categorises emissions being produced from activities not owned or controlled by the company but impacting its value chain. For example, staff travelling to work,” said Alden.
“A solution like RideTandem can have a massive effect on a company’s environmental impact. By choosing to reduce the amount of CO2 produced rather than offset it, companies can take a direct approach to combat climate change.
“There’s a buzz around being carbon neutral right now but there is also a big problem with how companies are attempting to go get there, very few are actually reduce their carbon emissions at all,” said Alden.
“Instead they opting to pay a third party for a ‘band-aid’ solution that looks good on reports in the form of carbon credits.
“The real solution, of course, is to reduce the number of carbon emissions produced in the first place. Something that RideTandem is working hard to achieve with our users.
“You see, the average car journey has 1.16 passengers, but the average RideTandem vehicle has 20, which means more than 17 fewer cars on the road for each trip – and less congestion.
“As transport is the most significant source of UK carbon emissions, it’s easy to see how this can make a difference.”
The eco-friendly service has also been developed to boost recruitment, improve retention rates and staff wellbeing by offering a comfortable, reliable convenient and hassle-free commute that widens hiring areas. Meanwhile, the shuttles themselves are quipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi and phone charging
However, RideTandem aims to provide more than shuttle buses. Utilising a tech-backed platform, a user-friendly app allows employees to easily book rides, track their shuttles in real-time, and receive notifications about any changes.
What’s more, a dedicated account manager is on hand to answer questions and address concerns, along with 24/7 support for any issues that may arise, while the app’s real-time booking and boarding data capability means users can gain valuable insights into ridership patterns to optimise shuttle routes for maximum efficiency.
