Renowned British stand-up comedian, writer and actress Jo Caulfield has been confirmed as the special guest host of CiTTi Awards 2023.
A TV and radio regular, Caulfield has appeared on the likes of Have I Got News For You, The John Bishop Show and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, as well as Just a Minute on BBC Radio 4 and Breaking The News on BBC Radio Scotland.
Described by The Observer as “One of the finest female comics at work” and by The Scotsman as “Quite simply, a damn funny woman”, Caulfield will draw upon her Edinburgh Festival award-winning comedic routine – which combines a perfect balance of cynicism and warmth – to announce all the winners of the second annual CiTTi Awards during a special ceremony to be held at the stunning De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London on 21 November 2023.
Standing on Great Queen Street, which connects Covent Garden with Holborn in the West End of London, the Grade II listed building has a history dating back to 1775 and was once home to the original Freemasons’ Tavern before becoming a hotel in 1909.
Since then, the venue has hosted some of the world‘s leading politicians, royalty and celebrities with its grand Georgian architecture, original features and art-deco interiors. It was also featured in the most recent season of BBC One’s The Apprentice.
The ceremony will be attended by 200 of the UK’s leading transport professionals from local, regional and central government and other place stakeholders – including landowners, developers, and business improvement districts – and their project partners, such as architects, planners, contractors, and technology companies.
Guests will be greeted with a drinks reception held in the Balmoral Suite ahead of the winners being announced within the impressive surrounds of the Grand Hall, which features arched ornate ceilings, beautiful wood-panelling and dramatic chandeliers.
This month’s trophy-giving ceremony and public announcement of the winners follows a thorough and exacting shortlisting and judging process, which saw more than 20 transport industry experts evaluate written entries and Zoom-based presentations from nearly 90 organisations across 16 categories.
