Ionity, in conjunction with global energy company Cepsa, has expanded its pan-European EV charging network with the opening of Spain’s fist High Power Charging station in Pallejá, Barcelona.
The new site features four high-power charging points each with a capacity of 350kW. The chargers are compatible with the European standard Combined Charging System (CCS) and reduce charging times for current and future EVs.
It offers 1.2MW of power for the four high-power chargers. The Ionity station is among the fastest in Spain. The company has prepared the station for two additional high-power chargers that can be added depending on the demand. Cepsa will supply renewable electricity to these facilities.
Pallejá is one of 340 ultra-fast charging stations being deployed within the Europe-E project, which covers main routes across 13 EU member states and along all nine TEN-T Core Network Corridors and the Core Network. The EUROP-E project is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union.
In July 2018, Cespa signed a collaboration agreement with Ionity for the installation of electric charging points at its service stations in Spain and Portugal. The global energy company has a network of almost 1,800 service stations in both countries.
