An e-commerce delivery start-up, founded by a team of former Monzo employees, has secured £8m in funding to further develop its platform, expand delivery areas and grow its team.
The platform provides live tracking details of parcels in a similar vein to Deliveroo or Uber. Customers can update delivery details, including address at any point of the parcel route, they can also pause deliveries.
For small and medium-sized businesses such as breweries, clothing outlets and food manufacturers, which use its service to deliver goods to customers, the start-up added businesses can be certain that their goods actually arrive and aren’t thrown over fences or dropped off with the wrong person.
Tristan Thomas, CEO and co-founder of Packfleet, said: “We started Packfleet to build a world where independent businesses can compete with (and beat) Amazon and seeing the response from customers has been amazing. We’re creating a tech-enabled customer experience backed by green energy and fairly-paid drivers.”
The oversubscribed seed round was led by Creandum with participation from General Catalyst, Entrée Capital, and Founder Collective, as well as angel investors and operators in the space.
Gemma Bloemen, investor, Creandum, added: “Everyone who lives in the UK and has ever ordered something knows the delivery experience is broken. The start-up is here to disrupt this market in a truly differentiated way. It has created a green delivery experience that is seamless, intuitive and efficient for customers and merchants alike.”
In July 2021, the start-up had earlier raised a £1m pre-seed investment from General Catalyst and Entree Capital, as well as angel investors including Monzo co-founders Tom Blomfield and Jonas Huckestein.
