Improvement works totalling £19m on roads and footways across West Sussex are nearly complete.
West Sussex County Council said the project was on course to be completed before April. This includes resurfacing, road patching, footway reconstruction and the updating of road markings and road signs.
Roger Elkins, cabinet member for highways and infrastructure, West Sussex County Council, said: “Progress to date is encouraging and a tribute to the hard work of the highways team and our contractors.
“Subject to factors such as severe weather, we are on course to complete most, if not all, the improvements we hoped to achieve this financial year.”
Furthermore, the council said that, subject to confirmation at a full council meeting on 12 February, it expected to see a £12m boost to the usual level of spending on West Sussex’s highways over the next two financial years.
