North Lincolnshire Council has been awarded £118m from the UK government’s Local Transport Fund (LTF) to improve the region’s transport network.
The cash, part of £4.7bn secured from reallocated HS2 funding, “will be a game changer for transport in North Lincolnshire,” said North Lincolnshire Council leader Rob Waltham.
“It shows the government is backing our plans to make generational change across the whole the area.
“This will have a major impact on our communities and shows the decision to scrap HS2 and divert to improve areas like ours was the right one.
“It will make journeys quicker, support public transport and improve the road network.”

As part of the announcement, North East Lincolnshire Council will receive £119m and Lincolnshire County Council £262m – meaning Lincolnshire as a whole will receive almost half a billion pounds of transport funding.
The funding will be available from 2025 across the following seven years. Currently, North Lincolnshire receives £1.17m a year through the LTF.
Cllr Waltham added: “Across greater Lincolnshire the investment will be half a billion pounds at a time when we are looking to work together – this will be on top of the £720m investment the area will receive if we agree to the devolution deal.
“This cash will go a long way to enable generational change for the 1.1 million residents across the county of Lincolnshire.”
