Shropshire Council has announced that it is set to receive £136.4m from the UK government’s £4.7bn Local Transport Fund to improve transport infrastructure in the council area.
Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for highways, Dan Morris, said: “We’re pleased that the council will be able to choose how to spend the money, and we will continue working with local communities to decide how to invest this funding in line with our emerging priorities and strategies.”
The funding, which will cover a period of seven years, will be used to support existing transport schemes such as Shropshire’s on-demand bus service, which was introduced December 2023 to serve residents affected by bus-route cuts.
Achievements and innovations in sustainable urban mobility will be celebrated at the third annual CiTTi Awards, which will be held on 26 November 2024 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. Nominations officially open in March 2024. Please visit www.cittiawards.co.uk to learn more about this unmissable event for the UK’s transportation sector.
