The government has given the go-ahead for Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone, which will cover the centre of the city with the A4540 Middleway.
The CAZ is due to come into operation on 1st January 2020. Euro VI HGVs will be exempt, but those that don’t meet the standard will be charged £50 a day.
Birmingham City Council is offering a range of exemptions to allow eligible businesses and individuals more time to make the switch to compliant vehicles.
The government has allocated £38 million from its Clean Air Fund to support a package of mitigation measures including £10.05 million for an HGV and coach compliance fund.
