ArrowXL, a two-person home delivery firm, has made a £5m investment to strengthen its fleet and support the ongoing growth of the business.
The company has acquired 100 new DAF 180 FA 7.5-tonne trucks with ZF AS Tronic automatic transmission fitted with 49 demount bodies and 51 fixed box bodies – including 25 PACCAR bodies designed, built and fitted at Leyland Trucks – which boast the latest safety features.
The vehicles will be deployed across ArrowXL’s network to support both current and new customer operations.
As part of the process, the company’s delivery drivers were asked to provide feedback to better understand their requirements in terms of comfort and health and safety.
The new trucks incorporate driver-suggested features such as tuck away tail lifts, a narrower body size, and an upgraded passenger seat.
To increase safety for the driver and other road users, the new trucks include an advanced emergency braking system, daytime running lights, lane departure warning system, and reversing cameras.
“This investment is part of the ongoing development of our operations, which is designed to ensure that we are contributing to provide our customers with a best-in-class service,” said Charlie Shiels, CEO at ArrowXL. “This includes the reopening of our site at Worcester and the upgrade at our Wigan facility.”
