Sustainable logistics platform Urb-It has launched in Liverpool, following its introduction of green last-mile delivery services in Birmingham in March – the B Corp certified company now operates in seven of the UK’s largest cities.
Urb-it partners with e-commerce and logistics partners to provide customer-centric last mile delivery services, 100% by its couriers on its e-cargo bike fleet. This not only directly reduces carbon emissions, congestion, noise and air pollution- but its employed couriers are also more efficient in city centres than traditional delivery vehicles, the company said.
In 2019, Liverpool City Council declared a climate change emergency, all political parties in the city collaborated to agree the 2030 Net Zero Liverpool Action Plan. It outlines the specific measures the city will implement to become a net zero city by 2030.
This includes addressing emissions from transport, a contributor to carbon emissions, by increasing the use and electrification of public transport and increasing the cycling lane network within the city.
Sébastien Potts, UK country manager, Urb-it, said: “We are delighted to launch in Liverpool – a thriving city with an ambitious net zero plan to improve the health of the city. Our sustainable last mile delivery services fully align to this – reducing traffic and emissions on the streets, while also utilising the expanding cycling lane network. We look forward to creating job opportunities and a positive impact in Liverpool.”
