West Sussex County Council has officially adopted the West Sussex Transport Plan (WSTP) 2022-2036 and it is now available to view online.
The WSTP is the council’s main policy on transport and supports delivery of Our Council Plan and its priorities.
It will guide West Sussex County Council’s approach to the improvement and maintenance of the region’s transport network to address key challenges, including: transport emissions and impacts on climate change, economic performance, road safety, public health and well-being, the needs of a growing and ageing population, congestion and rural isolation.
A key change made to the WSTP following consultation on a draft in summer 2020 was the inclusion of a commitment to set a decarbonisation target.
“We are expecting the Department for Transport to issue guidance soon on how local transport authorities should approach this task,” said West Sussex County Council in a statement.
The adopted WSTP is now available online and can be viewed at https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/ltp.
